Andrea Bear Nicholas, Maliseet from Tobique, has devoted most of her career to research in Maliseet history, language survival and curriculum development. She is currently the Atlantic Chair in Native Studies at St. Thomas University in Fredericton.

This talk was given at the "Presence of the Past: The Third National Conference on teaching, learning and communicating the history of Canada."
